Welcome to the Grand Old Party  -  the Republican Party of Burleson County, Texas!  Here is where individual voters are joining together to create and guide the local, state, and national governments of this United States of America.  Please come in and learn about us, what we want for America, and why you might want to join with us!

Announcements

2012 PRIMARY ELECTIONS ARE APRIL 3, 2012

Now, if we just knew where we are and who is running!

Isn't Redistricting fun!  The 10 year redistribution of voters into political districts that try to give each voter equal clout in determining their State and Federal officials is still balled up in the Courts.  This hits Burleson County heavily as both our State and Federal districts are part of the decision!
If the redistricting is controlled by your elected Legislature, we will be in:
  • State Representative District XX
  • State Senate District YY
  • Federal Congressman District ZZ
If the San Antonio Federal Court overrides the Legislature, we will be in:
  • State Representative District XX
  • State Senate District YY
  • Federal Congressman District ZZ
The US Supreme Court is deciding who wins.  They have verbal arguments scheduled TBD.

If you have moved or are new to Burleson County, you need to Register your new address in Burleson County with the Elections Administrator before March <TBD> to be able to vote for all of your officials.  See our VOTE page for details.

GET YOUR PHOTO ID

This election may (the federal government review is not yet over) be the first in Texas where you must show a Photo ID when you go to vote.  Here are the planned rules:
Whe you go to vote you must show one of the following:
  • Texas Driver's License (current or expired by no more than 60 days)
  • Texas Election ID Certificate (issued by the DPS for those without Driver's Licenses)
  • Texas Personal Identification Card (issued by the DPS for those without Driver's Licenses)
  • Texas Concealed Handgun License (current or expired by no more than 60 days)
  • United States Citizenship Certificate (it must contain the person's photograph, but there is no time limit on date of issuance)
  • United States Passport (current or expired by no more than 60 days)
If you don't have one of the above on election day, you may vote provisionally.  Your vote will only be counted if you then obtain one of the above identifications and show it to the County Voter Registrar within 6 calendar days of the election (the following Monday).

You can also get a permanent exemption from the Photo ID by showing the Voter Registrar written evidence that you have a disability rating of at least 50% from U.S. Social Secrurity Administration or the U.S. Departement of Veterans Affairs.  You must also state that you have no valid form of photo identification.  In this case, you must present your Voter Registration Certificate having the exemption
marked on it when you vote.

Note that the photo ID is only required when voting in person.  You do not need a photo ID to vote by mail.

Republican Candidates

The redistricting fiasco in the Courts has greatly complicated our State and Federal Representative candidates as they differ between the Legislature and Court apportionment!  Further, after the Federal Courts settle on which districts we belong, their will be a new period where existing candidates may withdraw or new candidates sign up.

See all Republican Candidates appearing on Burleson County ballots at our 2012 Republican Candidates page!  Pictures, official election data, and links to their websites are included.

Introduction to Burleson County Republicans

If you've been looking for the grass-roots of the political fabric, you just found it in Burleson County, Texas! Burleson County voters have organized togeather to determine the intent of our members and translate that into an effective agenda for government. We accomplish this by selecting and then supporting like-minded candidates for governmental offices at the local, county, state, and national levels.
Our major programs include the following:

We also have a lot of fun while keeping track of what our local, state, and national politicians are actually doing! The joy of grassroots politics is that it is NEIGHBORLY and even friendly! The best is when an idea or input you make just keeps on going until it is part of our government!
